The company also leads in the promotion of voluntourism through the website, that features stories of organizations and “voluntours” (volunteers for tourism) and opportunities to support a cause.

The company’s history is also deeply intertwined in this sector.

RCKA’s mother company, Ruby Communications Consultancy, provided worldwide exposures to major national tourism campaigns like the 1994 Department of Tourism campaign Bring Home A Friend under then Secretary Mina T. Behind Great Causes

UP Yearbook
The UP Yearbook inspired by National Artists

We like wearing our hearts on our sleeves. So, when groups request for help in promoting their advocacies, we gladly assist.

On health, the company’s principal consultants launched the Asia Urb funded Maternal Health Program of the City of Manila in 2006. It has kept its health advocacy through succeeding programs with the Philippine Business for Social Progress, like its TB-DOTS program and the breastfeeding campaign launch of the World Health Organization and Department of Health.

RCKA underscores the benefits of healthy living. It was the first to disseminate news about the Buteyko breathing introductory seminars, which harps on the importance of correct breathing for better health.

Supporting social causes is also part of our company DNA. RCKA readily took on the challenge to give PR consultations for the Batangas-based organization Soro-Soro Ibaba Development Cooperative (SIDC). Through training and mentorship, the staff of SIDC was taught effective corporate communications. The media support of RCKA paved the way for the cooperative to launch a relevant print ad.

It helped Manila North Harbour Port Inc. (MNHPI) to get the word out about the launch of their “Bahay Silungan sa Daungan”, a halfway home for victims rescued at the port of Manila.

Heeding the call to provide succor to the marginalized, RCKA closed a sponsorship deal to aid the operations at the Aeta Rehabilitation and Resettlement Program. It houses the Aetas who have been displaced by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption. This area is led by Sister Eva Fidela Maamo, M.D., under the non-profit organization Foundation of Our Lady of Peace Missions, Inc. (FOLPMI).

Promoting cultural initiatives is also close to our hearts.

RCKA’s advocacy on the promotion of the arts was carried out through publicity programs of the launch of the Fernando C. Amorsolo Art Foundation’s book, “Maestro Fernando C. Amorsolo: Recollections of the Amorsolo Family” with an event at the Blue Leaf at McKinley Hills in Fort Bonifacio; the art initiatives of the Carl Jung Circle Center of the Philippines and the Reposo Art Festival. It was with great inspiration that the company highlighted National Artist graduates of the University of the Philippines in the making of the 2010 UP Alumni Yearbook.

It helped Katha Publishing Co., Inc, a subsidiary of Goodwill Bookstore, in creating buzz for their new book which focuses on spousal abuse. “Marriages Gone Awry (Aray)” was featured in several broadsheets.

RCKA helped preserve indigenous weaving traditions by promoting the textile programs and expos organized by the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.

In the limelight

With PR support of RCKA, the QCinema International Film Festival has grown its own audience and has become an annual must-see event among cinephiles and movie-goers.QCinema has been the launchpad of independent filmmakers to produce quality and world-class films.

It also helped in the promotion of “Swipe”, a film that tackled the dangers of social media by Ed Lejano; and “Boses”, an award winning film about child abuse by Ellen Ongkeko-Marfil.

When the big leaguers roll out their big plans, RCKA is there to give valuable insights relevant to their launch campaigns.

RCKA put in public view the takeoff of eTelecare Global Solutions, a Philippine BPO pioneer, with the key strategy of relating eTelecare’s role in a sunshine industry of the country. eTelecare has since evolved to being Stream, later acquired by Convergys. We were the first to inform the public about the emergence of knowledge process outsourcing through an innovative company called SPI Technologies.

With public safety in mind

Public safety and security are topmost priorities for the company. It propped up Manila North Harbour Port Inc. (MNHPI) to inform passengers of its safety and security measures it undertook when an upsurge of passengers were expected.

In 2013, RCKA also assisted Dr. Michael L. Romero, then-president of MNHPI, to gather stakeholders and media in a logistics summit to help expedite the movement of relief goods to the areas affected by Typhoon Yolanda.

As part of corporate activities with Suzuki Philippines, we gathered the media for a briefing with Suzuki and Philippine Azkals officials and players during the Suzuki Cup send off in 2013. In the case of skater Michael Martinez, RCKA trumpeted his achievements when he competed in international competitions in 2009.

In other arenas, RCKA, led the Filipinos in celebrating Filipinos’ achievements abroad.

We roused the crowd at the 18th National Collegiate Athletic Association-South (NCAA-South) that was hosted by the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH). Print media covered the event as well as Dyan Castillejo of Sports Unlimited and CNN Philippines.

For years, RCKA has successfully brought media to enjoy and cover Lima Park Hotel’s annual sports programs. The events “Batangas Earth and Wind Festival” and “Bisikleta Iglesia” have been featured on both online and print writeups.

RCKA took charge of the PR campaign for the first QC Sports Summit at the Amoranto Theater in 2015. Organized by the Office of Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, the event aims to establish Quezon City as a hub where young athletes are developed.

On the wave of change with startups and tech

Technology affords many brands to rethink the way they do business. They also encourage “disruptors” to crystallize ideas into fully-sculpted solutions.

RCKA led the Philippine promotions of AirAsia’s first ever hackathon dubbed “AirAsia Airvolution: Spearheading Innovation in Asean”, held at its RedQ headquarters in Malaysia.

We also support Brainsparks, a startup incubator that helps founders build sustainable and meaningful technology companies. Some of these were Sparkathon, their very own hackfest and tech bootcamps that advance the Internet of Things (Iot); StartUp Project PH, a two-day summit with other tech startup company; and a 3D printing workshop with Shapecloud.

Branders.com, a fast growing online company that serves Fortune 500 companies on their branded merchandise needs, was made known to young professionals as a rewarding place to work with.

Onboard the AirAsia flights, we also kept up with the changes in their Santan menu and merchandise catalog.

RCKA was also consulted for Quezon City’s pageant with a cause. The “Queen of Quezon City (QQC)” pageant was staged by the local government together with the community pride group Quezon City Pride Council and was anchored on the historic and comprehensive Gender Fairness Ordinance or ordinance #2357, a protective and anti-discriminatory measure specifically created for the LGBT community.

Government media training as high value investment

RCKA takes time to mentor through government media training. As our way of giving back to the community, we helped the government training arm, the Development Academy of the Philippines, in spreading the gospel of good governance and communications.

Through the Media Relations and Engagement course under Public Management Development Program of the DAP, we are able to help elevate the competence of government officials in communications planning and media relations.
